We are very excited to introduce our next speaker, Dame Ottoline Leyser!
Dame Leyser is a director at the Sainsbury Laboratory, the UK’s leading plant science research institute, where her group focuses on the role of plant hormones in the plasticity of plant development. She also lectures plant development at the University of Cambridge in her spare time. She received her BA from Newnham College in 1986 and her PhD in genetics in 1990. Her identification of the auxin receptor “solved a classic problem in biology”, and she plays a world-leading role in promoting Arabidopsis as a key model organism. She awarded a Damehood in the Queen's 2017 Honours List, and chairs both the British Society for Developmental Biology and the Royal Society’s Science Policy Advisory Group.
