Taoist Tai Chi Beginners' Workshop

10 a.m. Sat 2nd Feb - 2 p.m. Sun 3rd Feb

You are invited to a Beginners’ Workshop in Taoist Tai Chi on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 February from 10am–2pm at Newnham College, Sidgwick Avenue, CB3 9DF.

This accelerated course is the perfect starting point for beginners and the ideal way to manage the stresses of studying at Cambridge. Come along and enjoy this wonderful opportunity to experience the 108-move Taoist Tai Chi set in two enjoyable four-hour sessions. Signing up for the two-day workshop also includes weekly classes until end of May 2019.

The ancient Chinese believed that true health comes when body, mind and spirit work together in harmony. Taoist Tai Chi arts grew out of this tradition and are a way to develop a body that is strong, yet supple, balanced and energetic, a mind that is calm and clear, yet creative and dynamic, and a spirit that is light and peaceful, yet resilient.

Taoist Tai Chi arts involve deep stretching with a full range of motion and continuous turning of the spine. They exercise the whole physiology including muscular, skeletal, and circulatory systems, as well as tendons, joints, connective tissue and organs. Rather than depending on tension and the development of hard muscle tissue, these arts develop a body that is relaxed and strong at the deepest levels. The gentle internal movements are balanced throughout the body and have a calming effect on the mind. Taoist Tai Chi arts are truly a moving meditation.

Session 1: Saturday 2 February, 10.00–14.00
Session 2: Saturday 3 February, 10.00–14.00

What to wear?: Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Bring a water bottle.

What does it cost?: The cost of the Beginners’ Workshop includes 4 months membership at a reduced rate. The advantage of participating in an accelerated weekend program is that you can then participate in any level of class for the next 4 months instead of just a beginners’ class (including the Monday evening continuing class at Newnham College). This means many more days and times are available to you. Details of class locations and times in Cambridge, across the UK and the world are available at www.taoisttaichi.org/uk.

Adult: £65
Student/Senior: £50

Come and try.

Membership contributions are used to further the charitable aims and objectives of the Taoist Tai Chi Society in GB and Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi. All our accredited instructors are volunteers.

By registering and paying for this Beginners’ Workshop you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy as stated in the attached PDF.
