Code and Create in Scratch!
Scratch has become the world's largest coding community for kids. Scratch is a visual, child-friendly programming tool that allows you to learn basic programming skills without having to type in any code. Kids can create interactive stories, games and animations, while learning how to control objects using just a drag-and-drop interface.
May 11 is Global Scratch Day with over 1500 events held annually all around the world. Join us in Eddington to celebrate all things Scratch, with this special session officially registered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab at https://day.scratch.mit.edu.... Children will work through a set of challenges that will give them the confidence to use Scratch while at the same time having fun coding! We will be working with the online version of Scratch3. We would be grateful if you could bring your own laptop or tablet to the event although we will have some available on the day.
The coding session is mainly aimed at children in Years 2-5, with varied levels of experience with coding, however siblings and keen young programmers are welcome too. The event is open to the community so please spread the word. Children must be accompanied by an Adult/Carer at all times during the event. The session starts at 2PM but you don't have to stay until the end.
Every registrant will receive a Certificate of Participation. Refreshments will be available. We'll also be raffling two great prizes from our partner,The Centre for Computing History, Cambridge:
Family Membership w/ unlimited visits, valid for one year from date of issue (Value £100)
Family Entry Voucher for a single visit, valid for one year from date of issue (Value £26)
All funds raised will be used to purchase Computing Books for The University of Cambridge Primary School. Please consider becoming an event sponsor and help us reach our funding goal. Direct questions to the PTA at focusUCPS@gmail.com.
Please join us for this fun event and express your ideas through coding.
